Owner Surrender
Lhasa Happy Homes can help!
**We specialize in small, hairy dogs (referred to as “fluffies”) under 20 lbs**
(specifically Lhasa Apso, Shih Tzu, Maltese, Pomeranian, Poodle mixes, etc)
You can’t believe this is happening to you, but you’ve found yourself in a situation where you can no longer keep your canine family member. You have exhausted all other avenues, including friends, family, relatives and you have turned to Rescue for help. We understand. Life throws unexpected curves and there are times when we have to make decisions we never dreamed we’d have to make. We understand this is a difficult time in your life and we are here to support you.
Lhasa Happy Homes Rescue, Inc. (LHH) accepts Owner Turn-ins (OTI) when space permits. Our first priority is to at-risk animals from shelters, but we do accommodate OTI when possible. We ask that you provide any information (see below) available regarding their health; personality and behavior; pro/con, so that we can assess the ideal home.
BEHAVIORAL DOGS: If your desire to re-home your dog is due to aggression, please contact a qualified training professional. Unfortunately, we are unable to take dogs who are not socialized and/or don’t get along with other dogs. We recommend www.CanisDogTraining.com, Brent LaBrada, who offers a boarding “bootcamp.” The training you receive is lifetime for any refreshers you may need. Brent has rehabilitated many LHH dogs, so he comes highly recommended. Remember to let them know we referred you! Telephone: 310.737.8311
MEDICAL DOGS: Unfortunately, we are unable to accept dogs with major medical issues unless you are able to cover any and all associated veterinary costs (including but not limited to fostering expenses for long-term recovery). We recommend you contact www.freeanimaldoctor.org to see if they can offer you any financial assistance.
**LHH does require all dogs to be spayed or neutered, updated on vaccinations and in good health (sterilization paperwork and vaccination records are required). If you are unable to provide these records, we can potentially accept them with a donation to cover the expenses on a case by case basis.
