Zappa
Hooray! This dog has been adopted!
HERE’S ZAPPA….and your guess is as good as ours as to what his breed is! He has a Shih Tzu face, a Pug body and ears like a Yorkie! So I guess that makes him a ShiYorPug? Zappa came to us from Orange County Shelter with a tri color, 10 lb shaved body, long ears and a smushed face! He’s approximately 3 yrs of happy and adorable!
Zappa loves loves loves to play…with other dogs, with people, with toys! He loves to give gentle kisses and snuggle with you to let you know what a charmer he is. One thing he doesn’t like and that is being left alone without anyone around, so it’s a definite he needs another canine buddy. He doesn’t have separation anxiety, and he will quiet down after a minute or two barking session so he can let you know that you left him behind! Zappa will zap the food right out of your hands, until you tell him “gentle” and he complies. Great on a leash and loves his walks. Will sometimes lift his leg, sometimes we see him secretly pp…and sometimes when he’s been holding it…it looks like the floodgates have opened wide! A yard would be especially nice for him to run around in and play fetch!\
Something we have recently learned (why it’s good to keep a rescue dog for a couple of weeks minimum) is that Zappa can be a bit of a guarder and doesn’t like when you move him when he is sleeping. He can get a little spooked, so make sure he knows you are there! Eventually, when he is comfortable, it’s no biggie, but if he steals your sock? Best idea here is put them away so he can’t! Zappa needs to feel safe and secure before you play rough so he knows you aren’t trying to hurt him. Probably something in his past….he was wonderful when he first arrived and is just getting the lay of the land. His family should be experienced and patient. He’s a fantastic dog…just needs some training.
The ideal home for Zappa will be one where there is another dog, lots of love and attention and lots of toys. A yard would be a bonus. He has taken out every single toy in our armory and put them on his bed…then he likes to roll around in them! He’s definitely one to capture your heart and he will! So if Zappa sounds like your kind of dude….he’s here at LHH. Come and get him!
