MEET TONY….who looked a little scruffy when he arrived, but he has since been groomed.    This little 11 lb, golden/tan, 1 yr old youngster was dumped in the East Valley Shelter with a deformed, broken leg that needed immediate surgery.  He was in pain and at such a young age, didn’t really know what was happening to him.  He unfortunately had to have his front right leg amputated.

Tony is still a little shell shocked from what he has gone through, but he is already hopping around and recovering well.  He was initially a bit snappy, because we’re sure he was in pain, but that has resolved itself.  We don’t recommend him for children.  He is still a bit fearful and looks for a place to be where he has his “back against the wall” literally!  But daily, this little tripod gets better and better as he recovers fully.

Tony is just a puppy at 1 yr old.  His foster mom combed out his matts and he was a prince.  Not a single complaint.  We don’t know what his past was like, but he certainly didn’t have a wonderful first year of life.  Adopting him will be giving this little man a new lease on life…starting over (but he doesn’t seems to have the puppy antics like chewing on things and the like).  He will need potty training, and we are hoping that his fearfulness will diminish (as it already is) as he grows stronger.   He is cuddly and wants love…and while he doesn’t give kisses yet, we know he wants to be an affectionate baby.  We will be getting him groomed after his sutures come out and they neuter him!

Tony’s real personality is revealing itself as each day progresses.  It is hilarious to see him sleeping on his back with one leg extended straight up when he is relaxed, snoring!  He will not be at adoptions until March 12, but we are accepting applications for him now.  Check back and we will update as he blossoms!
