Tobey
Hooray! This dog has been adopted!
MEET MASTER TOBEY…whose story is sad, with a very happy new beginning! Tobey is a 20 lb, charcoal/black/tan, 2.5 yr old, Tibetan Terrier mix, from our best guestimation! He’s a perfect dog for you guys who don’t want to be seen with a “cutesy fluff ball!” He has girth, stature and a great stance! He is donning a short cut because he was completely matted to the skin and needed to be sedated because he was in such pain (not that he was difficult to groom). He would love to go running with you, definitely wants a canine companion and will be your very best friend. He’s a dog for all seasons…and all reasons, too!
Tobey was brought to the shelter with 18 other small dogs who were living in an RV until AC came to their rescue! Agoura called us and asked if we would take him and we said “of course.” Bigger than usual and not knowing his breed, we know that Agoura never asks for help unless they really need it. Fortunately, Tobey had a guardian angel there, who helped him decompress and learn that humans are there to help and protect — not an experience he had previously had. This is what he looked like:
When Tobey came to us, he was very reactive and could hardly be touched. Now? He gives you washcloth face kisses and asks for attention, loves to cuddle and pet. He had never had a belly rub and now that he knows what they are, loves them. And…his tail is finally up, over his back and wagging! Tobey is just about there, but he is still a little on the fearful side initially, but we’ve never heard a growl, never seen his teeth (unless looking at them) and doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. His nickname is “Mr. Affectionate” !! He has a long body, a tail that goes over his back and bedroom brown eyes that speak to your heart and soul. We wouldn’t recommend him for young kids at this point in time, as he still needs to “relax” but he has come so far in a short time. Kids over 10 yrs old would be great. If you want to meet a dog who wants to love and belong…Tobey is your man!! Could he be the boy you’ve been looking for?
