Tink
**PUPDATE: Tink is in training until October 1, so she will not be at adoptions until October 8
THIS IS TINK…aka Tinker, Stinker, Tinky, Cranky and, well, you get it! Tink is a tan/white with black tips, 12 lb, 4.5 yr old mix of Shih Tzu and Pekingese! Her senior human mom got her as a puppy and was told she was pure Shih Tzu. Nope — she does shed a tiny bit and those Payot sidelocks are a dead Pekingese giveaway! Tink’s human loved her to pieces and took wonderful care of her…but when she went blind, she was afraid to take Tink outside for fear she would ingest something she shouldn’t. Tink understands PP pads and she has been good on walks. Unfortunately, when mom went into assisted living, Tink couldn’t come, so she is now with us. On walks, she can be like a tornado chasing after anything that moves… big trucks, anyone on wheels and runners…so definitely will benefit from leash training (which she is currently getting). Trainer said she is being a very good girl…still guarding her food but it’s getting better!!!
Tink has a big personality! A sweetheart except when she wants to be a stinker! It takes her a ‘get acquainted period’ but once she trusts you, when you are resting she will climb all over you like a billy goat and plop herself across your body to protect you! She will follow you everywhere and sit between your legs peeking out when you stop on a walk! Can be nippy when she feels threatened (she has bitten) or is guarding something. She will come to you and kiss you on the face, but doesn’t like you in her face. Does guard her food, so you need to be aware of this when handling her treats or food. Tink has found her voice and will bark for attention…and she is a big snorer…such a character you have to love her to pieces like we do.
Best home would be one where she gets a lot of attention, consistent training to be a model citizen and live with parameters. When she first came, we were told she doesn’t like dogs or toys. She likes both now! She loves to do zoomies in early evening!! No kids please. An experienced, patient home that will work with her idiosyncrasies and learn to adapt, is what she needs. Once she loves you, she loves big, bonds like glue!! AND….she just started playing with toys!!
