MEET PHINEAS….or ‘Finn,’ as he likes to be called!  Or Mr. Moody, which he can be!!  This adorable, 4 yr old (in November), b/w, 16 lb, Shi Poo was given up because his owner was allergic.  So, while we and he was told Finn is mixed with poodle….if you have allergies you could be allergic to him!  Finn is a wonderful boy…but he can be a little moody when you do something that he is fearful of or if he doesn’t know you initially.  His previous dad admitted he did not take the alpha role with Finn, and so if this fluff ball thinks that he is the boss of you, he might snap at you.  You need to firmly but kindly be the boss of him.  In rescue, Finn has learned he is not the boss and he is doing well.  However, he needs to have a new home that will continue this role.  See, Finn really wants a leader and he wants to please….he can be very stubborn (but nothing a treat or a toy won’t help).  Initially, he will test you to see if he can manipulate you…he is that smart!  If he can, that won’t be good.  He is not a dog you can “baby” — at least not initially.  Once he knows you are the boss, he is playful and happy…still stubborn…but he is a great companion.  He is OK with most other dogs, and would enjoy having one as a companion in his forever home.  He will bark when you first exit, but settles down nicely.  Seems to be potty trained, but we never guarantee.  We think he would be best in an adult only, ACTIVE home, with a yard.  He would not be good in an apartment, as he does bark.  He loves his walks and exercise will help him learn that life is not boring!!  By the way, did we mention that he LOVES SQUEAKY TOYS??  Yep, the squeakier the better!  Phineas is a great dog…he just needs to trust that you are in charge and don’t spoil him to death…like his owner did….spoil him to life!!  You will have a wonderful dog!!  An alpha mom and dad will be the ticket…are you ready to participate?
