MEET PETEY….a sweet, but timid, 4-5 yr old, charcoal/white, ShiPoo boy who weighs in at a whopping 7.5 lbs and is looking to join the right family who will help him to feel safe and secure!  We don’t know his back story, but Chula Vista Shelter contacted us and asked if we could take him.  Because of his shyness, he was not showing well in the shelter, so we said “of course.”  He is a bit fearful of new environments and people, so he needs someone who will be gentle.  Once he’s comfortable (may only take a little while), he loves to snuggle up and rest his head and paw on you!  He will never turn down a belly rub and will roll over on his back to solicit your attention!  We have yet to hear Petey bark, even when he hears noises outside, so he won’t make any of your neighbors complain!  Totally non aggressive, doesn’t bite — even when scared!  He just want love and to be loved.

When Petey arrived, he wouldn’t walk on a leash.  He is a smart boy, so he pretty much masters ithis take in 48 hours (well, he’s still mastering!).  He welcomes going outside and seeing the world and is getting better and better everyday.  Like so many dogs, he is fearful of skateboarders and speeding cars, so sometimes needs a little “pick up” to let him know he’s safe.  He’s only 7.5 lbs so he’s easy to scoop up.  He has had accidents in his foster home, but he held it like a camel at our house.  That being said, as long as he is taken out frequently and before bed, he should train easily.  That’s why we never guarantee our kids are potty trained — a bonus is he doesn’t lift his leg!
