**PENDING ADOPTION**

MEET OREO….the epitome of a neglected dog.  At 6 yrs old, almost 11 lbs, this b/w Shih Tzu was surrendered by his owner because they said he was a burden!   We weren’t sure if he understood English, so we asked and they said “we never spoke to him.”  WHAT??  Only had his puppy shots, never vetted.  He was intact with a huge umbilical hernia and is missing some teeth (so his tongue peeks out), but healthy. I questioned his age and they reiterated his birth date as 1/27/2017.  We feel fortunate they gave him to us 🙂

I put him on a leash, and he learns very quickly.  Still a little hesitant at first, especially walking thru the door or gate, but he gets with the program.  Hasn’t mastered the stairs, but he will.  He came very shut down, like he is seeing the world for the first time!  He responds to love and is cuddly.  He needs a patient home that will understand that everything is new to him!  Owners said he was housebroken…but they only put him in the yard to do his business, never on a leash…so if you have a yard, that is a plus.
Oreo doesn’t demand anything 🙁  He doesn’t bark, he really doesn’t engage with other dogs, but he is fine with everyone, even cats.  He is very laid back at this time, but we think he has spunk in him he hasn’t shown yet.  He came bouncing up to meet me at the door with the other dogs while I had him.  He is known to love toys, but we haven’t seen it yet.  Since he just had his hernia repaired and was neutered, we believe as he recovers he will begin to blossom!
Oreo is still coming to life, but he will be at adoptions to meet and greet!  He would be fine with or without another dog or cat…gentle kids would be good….we don’t want him to be alone all day as he really needs love and attention to help him come back alive!  He will likely be available March 12.  We are accepting applications now.  He could not be cuter if he tried.

Hooray! This dog has been adopted!
