THIS IS OPAL…who has had a very hard time in her short 2-3 years of life.  Opal is an 8 lb, albino Maltese, with blue eyes (yes, she is cross-eyed!) and a very pink nose.  She was intercepted at the Riverside Shelter, before her owners could dump her.  They “said” they didn’t have enough time for her so they kept her in an x-pen with another dog 24/7.  When they decided to move, they decided to dump both dogs :((  When she first arrived, she would not walk on a leash.  No attention, no love, no grooming.  Took less than 24 hours to change that!  She still needs practice, but she is doing fantastic.  Opal is a frightened little angel with a crooked halo.  If you do something that hurts her, she nips and cries.  If you take time with her, love her and be gentle…she will give you very sweet, loving kisses.  She needs a very patient, loving home, who will love her through her imperfections.  When she nips, it doesn’t hurt anyway!!  She was so matted when we got her…with a knot in the back of her ear the size of a LARGE golf ball.  Little by little, we were able to get the mats out of her ears…but I am not going to lie to you….it wasn’t easy!  Once she bonds with you….she is easy.  She loves other dogs….no kids….patience and love are the keys.  The right home will make you…and Opal, very happy.
