MEET NOSH…and we named him that because he is delicious!!  Unfortunately, these photos do NOT do him justice!  After all, his eye was just removed 🙁  This diminutive, 9 lb, black/white, 1.5 yr old Shih Tzu/Maltese (coat is so soft) has not had a good beginning to life 🙁  Somehow, his eye popped out of his head and he was dumped in the shelter — we have no idea what happened except to hear that a “babysitter” did this to him!!  The owner wanted him back but he did not have the finances to take care of the dog.  The shelter tried to repair the eye but it could not be saved.  As a result, Nosh is a bit fearful at first, but he is getting better every, single day.  This little kissy monster just wants to be loved.   Once he knows you, when you say “cuddle” he will!!  We don’t think he had ever had a belly rub before and when he gets one?  He is in nirvana!  He wasn’t  sure what toys were about, but now he LOVES them.  He entertains himself throwing the toys, fetching and just having a good time.  We are working on his potty training but he has a tendency to walk while he is tinkling!  He get sooooo excited when it’s time to eat or go for a walk.  He doesn’t like to be left alone and we thought he really needed another dog.  Inside the house, he gets very protective ….outside he goes nose to nose with pups on the street.  As long as you can devote enough attention to him or take him with you everywhere (he is very portable), he doesn’t need another dog.  Apparently, he has snapped at a few of his foster “friends” saying, “This is MY family!”  He likes cats though!! He is protective of his people and just needs to be loved! Slowly, but surely, he is getting more socialized.  Where there is love, there is Nosh!!  He loves to cuddle when you say “cuddle.” Was fearful of kids, but that resolved itself and now he loves them.  Remember, he is just a puppy and needs training.  Nosh just wants to belong and learn what “the good life” is — and we’re going to get it for him!!
