MEET NELSON — a handsome, cream-with-liver-features, 4-yr-old, 17-lb Shih Tzu! Nelson is a quiet, reserved, cautious pup and will take his time in getting to know you. He has his boundaries and wants you to respect them, but show him love and he’ll surrender. If you sit down, he’ll be on your lap in a jiffy!
Nelson is not the most social dog, but he generally has a good disposition. He also loves his toys and will run around the house and chase them if you’re willing to throw them for him! He does well with other small dogs but will bark at big dogs. He likes to go out for walks and do his thing, but he won’t win any distance awards: Walk him 2 miles, and he’ll be huffing and puffing!
Nelson has a strong personality and will let you know his likes and dislikes. He doesn’t like being moved when he’s resting or being approached unexpectedly — but we don’t blame him! He does not do well with children and can bite if he doesn’t like the game. He would do great in a home without children. He can stay home alone for a few hours at a time, but he definitely prefers company. He is potty-trained in his current home, but no guarantees in yours.
