MEET LITTLE LUCAS….a 2 yr old, 8 lb, white/tan Maltipoo as best as we can determine!  He’s bald now, because he was so matted, you couldn’t get a comb through his hair, but the picture below shows you what his coat looks like.  He may be bald now…but those of you who love a soft, curly coat, when he grows out, if you take care of it…he will be even cuter than he currently is!   When Lucas arrived, he was shy and a little reserved…wasn’t quite sure why he was with me.  He came from the Orange County Shelter, and they had cut some of the matts out.  We took him to be groomed because those left had to be painful and as soon as he came home…IS THAT THE SAME DOG?  Lucas had found his energy, personality, voice and was shy no more!!  It’s actually hard to keep him still, except if you are holding him getting your face washed by his tongue!  He’s just a youngin’ but he does settle down.  Lucas is the kind of pocket pooch you will want to take with you everywhere.  He seems to have separation anxiety, so we want to place him in a home where there is someone around most of the time.  For this reason, we don’t think apartment living would suit him/you because he will bark for about a half hour after you leave but finally settles down.  He will need a little work on his potty training, because we believe he was likely kept as an outside dog (typing that even makes me angry) by the condition of his coat.  He will go on the sidewalk when you least expect it.  That being said, he has started using the pp pads and is getting better and better knowing where the bathroom is!

Lucas is friendly with everyone — even strangers on the street both dog and human.  He will kiss you ’til the cows come home and just loves being a part of the conversation!  He likes to chase after toys but we don’t think he’s had much experience with them.  Kids over 8 yrs old would be welcome!  He is young and under foot, so please keep that in mind when applying.  Can Lucas come home with you??
