MEET LILY….. a wonderful, happy and “young” 11 year old,  8 pounds Maltese.  Lily is a gentle girl who loves to be near her human and will demo her tricks for a small reward!  For several years, she was loved unconditionally…but her story turned sad. Her pet mom’s mother did not want a dog in the house anymore and told her daughter they both had to go…and without knowing it, she put Lily in the shelter!  When the daughter found out, she immediately went to get her and slept in her car for a week before asking one of our volunteers to please take her.  Of course, we agreed, along with her dirty teeth, cherry eyes and a wart on her neck….but now they are ALL GONE!!!  She is healthy, chipped, vaccinated, spayed and ready for her forever home!  She does have cataracts from age, so her vision is compromised…but she will follow your voice and is content to lay/sit near you.  She loves to sleep with her human and canine siblings.  Lily gets along with other dogs but seems sad when her person leaves.  She settles down and will nap until you return. It may take some time for her to learn the potty routine at your house, but she can use a doggie door with training and will use a potty pad if she gets to select the location! In her foster home, the alpha dog guided her and she now runs up and down the stairs like an Olympic champion.  She will bark if startled, but only briefly. We simply adore this sweet “proximity dog” and think she would do well in a home that is calm and a family who want her to be with them all the time. Could she be the right baby girl for you?
