MEET HUGO…who came from the Baldwin Park Shelter with a bad rap.  This hunky, 17 lb, white/gray, 4-5 yr old, Lhasa Mix was deemed ‘aggressive’ and his only real problem was he was scared to death and not very social.  After a week or two in rescue, we learned that he was leash aggressive and has issues with some dogs.  He wants to be social and well behaved, but he isn’t == so we are working on getting him into training.  While he still needs to feel safe around you, which initially only takes an introduction, he loves to jump up on your leg to give you a kiss or get a head scratch!  Off leash, he is fine and has been hanging out at doggie day care with all the pooches!  On leash, he can be a bit difficult and he will require a savvy pet parent that understands parameters!! His new family should be experienced Lhasa people and should be prepared to take him to training (and abide by his training) to help him best the best dog he can be.  He is VERY affectionate.  Once he trusts you, he’s very cool.  Don’t look the other way or ignore this doll because he’s a work in progress!  It is so rewarding to see him blossom.  He loves to go for long walks and would be great on a hike.  He is a very hardy dog who will be even more spectacular with obedience training…but he’s on his way!  He wants to please.  He seems to be potty trained but will use pp pads if he can’t get out.  Hugo would be thrilled to be your one and only and could handle being alone up to 4-5 hrs a day.  He definitely would like to have a yard and a family (no children) or couple who will love him to life despite his imperfections.  Do you have a place in your home and heart for this healthy, wonderful boy?  He deserves happiness — who knows what hell he has been through but hopefully the rest of his life will help him forget it!!  **NOT AVAILABLE YET TO BE ADOPTED BUT CAN BE SEEN BY APPOINTMENT.
