MEET HAZEL…and she may be an oldie, but she is a goodie.  This charcoal/white, 12-13 yr old, 12 lb, Shih Tzu’s story is tragic.  We got a call right after New Year’s that this dog was found in the gutter, on January 1, in the rain, in downtown Los Angeles.  Immediately, we had them bring her to our wonderful vet who could only say, “she is one hot mess.” 🙁  Obviously dumped, at least she was spayed.  Her nails were so long they were growing into her peds, she had mammary tumors and a mass on her leg, not to mention an inguinal hernia.  Oh yeah, she is also blind and deaf and has a leaky urinary issue, which is being addressed with Proin.  And, she was in the pouring rain 🙁  We have no idea how long she had been out there, but regardless, she had been neglected.  On a positive note, much to our vet’s surprise, her bloodwork was normal!!  Aside from her “issues” healthy!  No living being on this planet should be discarded this way.  Unbelievably sad.

Is she a spunky puppy?  No.  Is she an absolute sweetheart?  YES!  She needs a roof over her head and a family with a huge heart who will take her in and love her with all her imperfections.  Yes, she needs a diaper at this time…but she is getting better.  She just loves to sleep and a home to live out her golden years.  She needs drops in her eyes and lots of love and she will be happy.  

We are looking for a forever home or a long term foster, and we will cover expenses.  Do you have a heart big enough for Hazel?
