Emma & Monet
Hooray! This dog has been adopted!
EMMA & MONET ARE A PAIR AND WILL NOT BE SPLIT UP!
MEET EMMA & MONET! Emma is an approx 4-5 yr old, just a hair under 15 lb, (larger) white Maltese mix beauty who came to us terrified…and she has never been in a shelter. In the beginning of her short life, she was relegated to the backyard as an outside dog!! Who puts a puppy (or actually any dog) in the backyard to live? Rescue friend to the rescue…who made sure this little lady was invited to be an indoor dog! When someone tries to greet Emma on walks, she scurries behind her handler, but then she ventures out. She now comes out to happily greet us (from being under a couch) when we come home. She asks for attention and pets and looks at you with those bedroom eyes and says….”love me.” WE DO!! She seems to do her business on PP pads but loves her walks and is learning that is the time and place to do it! Emma is still very shy, but she is great on walks and loves to sniff all the smells and see all the outside activity. While we have found her to be very quiet and reserved…she is coming out of her shell and with new people it will just take time! Emma bonds fairly quickly. Monet has helped her to be more confident and they like to hang out together. Don’t really play, just feel more comfy with the companionship.
Monet is a sweetheart of a 6 yr old, 11 lb, white, Lhasa Maltese. Her former owners thought she was pure Lhasa, but we don’t think so. She was given up because the owner fell sick and had to leave the country and isn’t expected to return. Poor baby was left in a home with nobody there — only friends to check on her, feed her and take her out once in awhile :(( She came to us quite shutdown, but now, she has come around, thanks to her friend, Emma! Monet is initially shy, but when she blossoms….look out! She is so pretty, well behaved, does her business on PP pads — and she has become so affectionate in just a short time. More wary of men at first. Once we’d had her a short time, the flood gates opened! Kisses…and so many more kisses! When she arrived, she didn’t give any. We think she was taught not to. But now? OMGosh, be prepared for a face cleaning and if you don’t like kisses, you won’t like her! When Monet is on a walk, she is protective and often barks at an oncoming dogs or people…but she does not go berserk. She is partial to women, but we believe that will change. She is quiet for the most part but will join in the chorus if there are other dogs barking because she thinks that is what she is supposed to do! We can tell you she is good with other dogs, kids and humans…she just needs time to adjust. Poor little lady has been thru a lot and really needed to get her bearings!
Emma & Monet both need to feel safe and loved, and the rest will come naturally. They would be great in a home where they are not left alone for long. Kids (over 10 yrs old), who can be gentle, are welcomed. Do you have space in your home and your heart these beautiful girls?
