Dove
MEET DOVE…and we named her that because from the moment she came to us, she was so gentle, quiet and shy — and such a lady. This precious, 3 yr old, 12 lb, creamy white Maltese Pomeranian…who had very long, beautiful, silky hair with a Pommie tail…had a horrible case of kennel cough and I was afraid she had pneumonia. As she started to recover, her personality started to emerge and she is not only a sweetheart, she is loving, affectionate and a little bit on the active side when she wants to be. She craves attention and when you are walking her — she is great on a leash too — she adoringly looks up at you to say “thank you for loving me.”
Now that she has recovered, she is beginning to come out of her shell more and more. It’s pretty clear that she was loved, but she was in awful condition when she arrived. The shelter had to shave some of her matts off her behind so that she could use the bathroom! One thing, she doesn’t like her face messed with, so we’re not sure if this was a bad experience or she just doesn’t like it. Dove can be a little fearful and makes a game out of catching her and putting a leash on — but bring out the food and she is the first one in line! She will also follow you everywhere and if you don’t want a dog to jump on your bed and want to cuddle with you, Dove would not be your girl 🙁 Great with people, other dogs and her toys! She rides wonderfully in the car and settles down quickly. She loves to run and play and seems to be up for whatever is on the agenda. Slowly but surely, she is blossoming and her foster mom says she is so good and so smart, she didn’t even need a crate on her first night!
The ideal family for Dove would be one where she is surrounded by love, affection, kindness. Another dog would be welcomed but not an absolute. She would not be happy left alone all day…she deserves a full life. She would love a yard, lots of walks, kids over 8 yrs old and good food! Yes, she is a foodie! Does this sound like a dog you could love and who could join your family?
