MEET CHURRO….and we named him that because he is sweet as sugar!  (but don’t get between him and his food!)  This little 5 yr old, 12 lb, tan/black, scruffy but very soft ShihTzu Terrier (non shedding) is a character.  Those big brown eyes will capture your heart in a NY minute!  He was turned in by his owner’s children because they were ill and Churro wasn’t getting the attention he deserved.  He lived half the time outside, the other half inside.  I didn’t get the impression that they were dog people, as he really hadn’t had any training…but he is very smart!  He stopped marking in the dog room in a week, but he does still have an accident or two in the house, so he just needs to know where to go.  He is good on a leash but he does pull, so he would benefit from training.  Sometimes he is extremely assertive on the street with other dogs, so he needs to be introduced slowly — and he is protective of his person, so the same with strangers (although he is 99% of the time wonderful).  Churro is extremely playful with his roomie, sometimes a little too rough, so he needs to go to a home where he has a canine companion to play with him!  Even bigger would be okay!  Kids over 12+ yrs old would be welcomed.  He is very food dominant and when it’s out…it’s his, so this needs to be observed at feeding time.

Churro loves to cuddle and give you kisses to let you know how much he appreciates your attention.  He is not a big barker and does not bark when you leave…but he’d love to sit at your feet or on your lap while you work…so maybe you have a place reserved for him?  He’s waiting!
