MEET BODHI…an incredibly sweet, loving, wanting a forever home 5-6 yr old, liver/white, 13 lb, Shih Tzu mix (who reminds me of ET).  As you can see by the picture below (looks like he is red but the lighting is bad) which was taken at the shelter before we received him, he was matted to the bone and quite uncomfortable.  He was owner surrendered (landlord) and they said he was 3 yrs but our vet says 5-6.  They shaved him to the bone (not a single hair left on his body) and when they brought him out, we thought we had the wrong dog!  He looks so bewildered and on top of everything else, came down with a horrible case of kennel cough.  It’s clear he wasn’t well cared for as he is skinny and needs to gain some muscle mass!!  He loves to be held and cuddle and just let you know how happy he is to be in your arms…but his real personality has not blossomed yet.Bodhi doesn’t like being left alone.  He will bark when you leave but then quiets down.  He really needs the reinforcement that you are not going to leave him again and he does chill.  He is very curious about everything, does his business on his walks (but no promises!) and only had a single marking accident in his foster’s house.  He walks great on a leash, but he is very protective when other dogs come around and we think he just wants to say “hello.”

The best home for Bodhi would be one where there is a family who wants to spoil him…maybe kids where he can attend their sports events…and another dog of his choosing who he can pal around with and be his BFF.  We are still getting to know him and now that he has recovered from kennel cough, he’s a confident little man.  He will be at adoptions.

If Bodhi is a dog you could love and spoil to life forever, please apply!
