Bear is 5 years old and he is a love dog! He likes nothing better than to cuddle and take a walk or hike outside. He does not shed at all, he is 12 lbs., and I believe he is a mix of Terrier and either Lhasa, Shih-tzu or Tibetan. Bear is highly intelligent and very trainable. He knows how to sit, lie down, stay, go to his mat, and “leave it”. He is great with children, people, and other dogs. Sometimes he gets a bit agitated around bigger dogs, when they won’t leave him alone, but he has never exhibited any aggression toward any person or animal.

When someone is with him, he is very mellow. He is not big on toys or fetch, although he will play sometimes. He has a form of separation anxiety called isolation anxiety. He has been taking Trazadone (and now Fluoxetine) for this reason, but it only takes the edge off. He really needs a home where at least one person is home the vast majority of the time, or can take him to work! He is also a member at Paradise Ranch in Sunland, a daycare for dogs that doesn’t leave the dogs alone. Being left with another dog may or may not help his anxiety. We don’t know how he would be with cats, but we would guess not good because he wants to chase cats when we see them outside.

Bear is a very adorable dog and people are forever stopping me to pet him and say hi to him because he’s so cute, which he appreciates! He just needs a different situation where he will not be left alone for very long, and his issue can be worked on if someone has the time.
