Curtis
Hooray! This dog has been adopted!
THIS IS CURTIS…and he is a pensive, 3-4 yr old, golden red/white, 13 lb Shih Tzu, who came from the SEAACA shelter with a bad rap. When the vet was handling him, Curtis bit him, so he was sent to quarantine jail for 10 days. He had the dirtiest face, full of eye boogers and, what had to be uncomfortable, matts — and he would NOT let anyone touch his face. When we finally got him, I was able to get his face semi clean (with only a few bites here and there — never drew blood!), and the spectacular Brian Marshall “theedoggroomer” was able to do the rest. Curtis is a lover and now that he is cleaned up, he is much happier BUT when he sees a scissors or a comb, he’s off. Most of the time, he is a cuddly, loving, very playful “please pay attention and pet me” pup. Once he trusts you, you can do almost anything else to his face…but groom. Depending on his mood, he will kiss you or nip you!! You can put your face right up against his face! We have been working on desensitizing him to the comb…he’s a work in progress. Curtis loves other dogs but we don’t think he needs/wants one in the home. No kids. He would love to bond to you and learn to trust you and he will make a wonderful companion. He wants to be a good boy. If you want to adopt him, you must have patience — and once he loves you…he loves you! Probably not the best fit for a senior home because we wouldn’t want anyone to get nipped. Even when he nips, it doesn’t really hurt unless you push him. He is not outwardly aggressive. Do you have a place in your heart and home for Curtis??
