MEET MOCHI…a wonderful LhasaTzu who unfortunately is being rehomed, much to his mama’s chagrin, because they are being moved to a place in Texas that will not accept dogs πŸ™ Mochi is a svelte 19 lbs, 6 yrs old, cream/white verified LhasaTzu. He was born without a tail, but it doesn’t hold him back for a second! He has been loved and this is a difficult decision for his mom to make, but it’s in his best interest.

Mochi has been living with dogs, kids and cats. He loves to play with dogs and is good with everyone…but he is not as comfortable with big dogs as he is with little. He gives kisses, plays with toys, has good potty skills and asks to go out by pawing at the door. This might be different at your house, so we never guarantee! Mochi has a few quirks that are hilarious — he loves to suck up the air when you are using a blow dryer and does the same with water from a hose! He is very playful and can get hyper but mostly he loves to be with his people. His mom reports he is very happy and playful at the park playing with others and believes he could be with or without other dogs. Since he has been in a home with a lot of activity, he probably wouldn’t thrive being left alone a lot.

Mochi is a wonderful little man who is full of love. Do you have room in your home and heart for this playful fella?

MEET THIS FABULOUS DUO…..and you will fall in love. (respectively) Caitlyn and Cameron are 18/22 lbs, both 1.5-2 yrs old, tan/black Lhasa/Shih Tzu and Lhasa X — likely litter mates. Not only are they gorgeous, but they are intelligent and have so much personality! A Good Samaritan found them huddled in an alley and was taking them to the Orange County Shelter to locate their owners. They were a mess. No they didn’t walk on a leash, but learned quickly. We are thrilled that they are here.

It was difficult getting individual pictures because they are always together, on top of each other and/or playing. They even do their business in unison!! They love to cuddle with each other and you — they give lots of kisses and just reek of puppy love! Initially, they were very fearful and reluctant to meet anyone, and their fosters think they are a still a bit shy of men (and will need a patient family to work on this). It takes a minute for them to warm up, but it is so understandable. Once with their longterm foster, Cameron has exhibited some fear of men and protects Caitlyn from from any guests. Caitlin follows Cameron’s lead and does whatever he does! As every day passes, they get more and more rambunctious and active. Definitely need an active family to love these two to life and training would definitely be important for this bonded pair bond to their new home.

The ideal home for Caitlyn and Cameron might be a primarily female home, where there are gentle older kids 8+ yrs, a yard and family who will spend time to work with them. They seem to be potty trained, but no guarantees at your house (Cameron will mark at first). They have been quiet, but if Cameron barks, Caitlin barks. They are learning what toys are…they are VERY SPECIAL and will only go home together. Please don’t ask to split them up.

Introducing van Gogh…a remarkable pup who has had a traumatic beginning of life. This petite 8 lb, gray/white, 1.5-2 yr old Shih Tzu mix was either attacked by another dog or an animal who mutilated his ear flap and it could not be saved. Unlike his namesake, who was mentally ill and cut off a portion of his own ear, our van Gogh is amazingly well adjusted and just a happy go lucky fellow! His foster says that despite his malady, it doesn’t stop him for a minute! When we went to see him at the shelter, he started kissing through the bars of the kennel and there was NO WAY we could leave him there! Definitely a kissy face puff baby!! He learned the doggie door in about a week…LOVES to play with toys…has a lot of fun playing with his roommates and his human! Van Gogh can be independent and when you call him, he comes to you from wherever he has been! Learning to walk better on a leash, van Gogh loves to play in the yard with his toys and his friends. He would love to have a playful, young companion — and a yard would be fantastic! A family with well mannered kids (over 8 yrs) would also make him very happy…but not necessary. He is still a puppy in many ways, but he has shown himself to be potty trained (no guarantees at your house) but is still a bit mouthy when playing so kids over 8 yrs old would be recommended. His hair should ultimately grow and cover/protect his ear, but you will need to be careful to watch for any infections in the meantime. His surgery has not affected his hearing whatsoever. Do you have the heart and home for this absolutely adorable baby boy?

MEET LILLI….”Lilli pad” to her close friends and relatives! This little 11 lb, 5-6 yr old, gray/white spitfire has had an awful life :(. How or why she originally landed in the shelter we do not know, but she was matted to the bone a year+, adopted by a 92 yr old woman who neglected her for a year and then given to another senior to care for her who couldn’t have two dogs in her living environment πŸ™ Once we got her to the groomer and had all the knots and matts and who knows what else the groomer found, he said “if I could, I would take her home with me — she’s so cute!” He never says that about anyone! Lilli has a lot of pent up energy after living with two seniors. She loves to play — taking pictures of her was a feat! She loves to go in circles when she is excited and sometimes even when she does her business! She is a kissy face girl who is very busy and just wants to be a girly girl! She was trained to go on a pp pad, but we have worked with her and she goes outside — a couple of accidents here and there on the pp pad! She doesn’t really play with toys — she will chase after them but leave them wherever they land. Lilli would love to have a companion pup to play with as she is trying to play with our other foster dog and he’s not having it! A family with older kids would even be a possibility!! She walks pretty well on a leash and barks when you are getting ready to take her out….and when you are getting ready to feed her! Other than that, she is very quiet. Her previous owner says she would love her to have a yard to play in!! Lilli hasn’t been here long so that is about all we can tell you. We will update her profile as we learn more!

MEET AXYL…and if you love Lhasa Apso, you will adore him! This bigger Lhasa boy @ 21 lbs, is 4-5 yrs old, gray/white and came from the Moreno Valley Shelter a pretty big mess. Stickers, rocks, things we didn’t even know what they were in his matted coat. Once he got his makeover, he was just the happiest camper!! He was dancing and playing and begging for attention. Then we found dangling dewclaws, so he had to have minor surgery and so we also did a dental, since he was already under. Boy did he come to life!! Axyl loves other dogs, his people, walks well on a leash (but he will pull if you don’t correct him), seems to do his business outside or on a pp pad in an emergency (but we never guarantee at your house). He chases after toys, but so far he doesn’t bring them back! His temperament is “please just love and play with me” and he is a great eater! He doesn’t like being left behind, so he should have a companion. Not really separation anxiety — just very people oriented. This is a pup our founder is going to have a rough time giving up! Kids over 8 yrs old would be welcomed, if they are gentle and have good manners!! Does Axyl sound like a pupper who would fit in your home? He’s available now.

MEET STEFFIE….an adorable, happy, 7 yr old, tan/black, 15 lb, Lhasa Apso mix, who unfortunately found herself homeless when her senior owner could no longer care for her. She was so matted that the groomer needed to shave her πŸ™ Owner reported she continuously tried to escape, but she has been very happy here and she stays put. One thing she does like to do is roll the window down while you are driving. She did this in her previous home and ended up jumping out of the car and injuring herself. She is fully recovered — but make sure you have locks on your car windows!

Steffie is a character. Her original name was Cheff — but since she doesn’t cook, we changed it! She has a big personality and is extremely playful, loving, kissy and attentive. She loves toys and to fetch (even sometimes brings it back to you) — and kissing is her other favorite pastime! If you don’t want a dog to snuggle up in your bed, Steffie would not be the right girl for you. She likes to be on high places, be the boss of the house and be a happy girl. She will bark if she hears noises (like on the TV) and wants to protect the house! She is OK with other dogs but is possessive of her person, so we believe she would be best as an only dog. On walks (which she LOVES), she can also be protective but when approached slowly, she likes to meet and greet everyone on the street. Her potty training is pretty good — but no guarantees at your house.

All in all, Steffie is a girl who would be happy as your one and only — but doesn’t love being left alone. A household where her parents work from home and include her in activities woud be ideal. Older kids (10+) who enjoy a playful dog would be fantastic. This girl just wants to have fun…how about you?

***ADOPTION PENDING***

INTRODUCING MIMI….a petite, very sweet, 10 lb, 4 yr old, liver colored Shih Tzu, who was dumped in the South LA Chesterfield shelter with a bladder full of stones πŸ™ because her owners couldn’t afford the surgery πŸ™ Poor baby was peeing blood and had to be in horrible pain, so we got her out of the shelter and immediately rushed her to our vet — who kindly did the surgery that night!! She would never have made it through the weekend. She is doing great, back to being active and happy!

Mimi is a character. She kept an pulling her cone off — she is very smart! When you begin to make her food, she is talking to you like. “please hurry up!!” She eats like she has never seen food before and turn around and she is finished! She is using the pp pads and doing her business outside like a good girl — but the second you get her out, she squats to pee. Don’t stop on the way out or she will have an accident! Over time, this should get better when her bladder fully heals.

Mimi likes other dogs but we are still trying to determine if she wants one of her own! She is not fond of her roomie Angie, because she is stealing all the love and attention and trying to be the first to get the food bowl! She is great on a leash and loves to meet all the other dogs on our walks. We have determined that she just might want to be your one and only….if you work from home and can pay a lot of attention to her…BUT if you have another dog, and she likes them…maybe they would be good because she likes to play! She makes the decision — you just pay her fee!!

Mimi will be at our adoption event 8/24. Check back for updates…she’s a doll and she won’t last long!!

INTRODUCING ANGIE…a petite, 9 lb, brindle black and gray with a white paw and chest crest, 4-5 yr old (soft coated, non shedding) Terripoo, who was dumped in the shelter by her family because they were moving to Atlanta. I guess they don’t allow small dogs in Atlanta? Angie was scared to death in the shelter and did not show well. We had to go slowly with her because after being abandoned, she had no idea where she was or why and felt she needed to protect herself. Two days after arriving, she let us love and kiss on her and now trusts us 150%. She gets uber excited when we come home, or take her for a walk or dinnertime! She is very affectionate and give lots of kisses! That being said, we adopted her to a family with rambunctious children and she did not connect with them. She is still a bit fearful with new situations so she needs time and patience.

Angie is now playing with toys!! Throwing them up and down and amusing herself!! While she’s good with other dogs and will play with some, she really wants all the attention to herself and especially doesn’t like to share belly rubs! Could easily be an only dog as long as she isn’t left alone many hours.

New revelations: Angie has found her voice and uses it when she hears different sounds…especially on walks when she sees other dogs! She seems more protective when men approach and will bark like an attack dog, but she will be kissing their hand in 2 minutes! Seems potty trained with outside access, but we never guarantee! Loves her walks and wants a minimum of 2-3 a day!! Angie would be a wonderful companion to a family likely without kids (or we would have to meet them and see her with them). She definitely wants to be loved and cuddled and is definitely a snuggler. Patience, time and love will bring great rewards from Angie.

MEET PRESLEY….a great looking, longer legged, gray/white, 3-4 yr old, 16 lb, Lhasa/ShihTzu who hails from the streets of Compton. A good Samaritan scooped him off the road before he could be hit by a car and searched for his people Unsuccessful in finding them, after several weeks she decided to turn him over to rescue for rehoming. He is now with us πŸ™‚

Presley is a sweet dog who walks well on a leash, is great with other dogs and loves to play! He came to us intact, no vaccinations, no microchip and needed the “works.” He has since been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped!

We are getting to know him and he warms up a little bit more each day. One thing we know is he would rather be with his humans and canines than to be alone! A sweetheart, he would be good with kids over 8 yrs old and he is an active boy, so he would love a yard and a playmate…either another dog or children to play with. Whatever home he goes to will be a lucky one indeed!

MEET BRONCO…. This handsome, 15 lb, tricolored, 3 year old Lhasa/Shih Tzu/Poodle is a wonderful combination of sweetness and opinions!Β  We are working with 4 Paws Kiddo Rescue to make sure he gets the ideal home.

Bronco was dumped in the shelter after a bite incident in his former home. We don’t know how this happened, but we know that he doesn’t like being heavy handled. Since this incident, we have opted to take Bronco to training to desensitize any negative behavior. He was evaluated and has fear aggression with strangers. Once he respects you, he is a wonderful dog. As you can tell by the video, Bronco can be a very loving, happy dog. He just needs to respect you as his leader. He should go to a home without kids and a savvy/experienced family who have dealt with “opinionated” dogs. I can say that he is a wonderful dog and very loving and obedient once he knows the rules!

Bronco needs a home that will give him parameters and love him to life. With guidance (and he comes with a trainer) he will be that dog you are looking for. Plays like a maniac with toys and even fetches … follows you everywhere and will prove you’re a good cook! He eats like it’s the first time he’s seen food — blink, it’s gone! Before training, he pulled on the leash and was easily distracted by buses and trucks on the street. He has learned how to be a gentleman on walks!! If you scold him, he will give you side eye for a moment and wait to hear “ok, now good boy” and he’s over it.

Bronco sits quietly while you work (or squeaking a toy to remind you he is there)! If you are not at home and you are in an apartment/condo, he will bark voraciously when anyone walks by, but then he is quiet again. He also responds to “leave it” and will be quiet. He does NOT have separation anxiety and gets along great with other dogs once introduced To keep him healthy — Bronco really needs a 2 mile walk daily or exercised to get his playfulness in check!

Bronco could be an only dog if his people work from home and he isn’t alone much. His potty training skills are good — but no guarantees. All in all…Bronco is a stallion! We love him and will only let him go to the perfect, experienced home — for him and for you!! Interested? He’s the best. Bronco will not be attending our adoption events; he can be seen by appointment only by approved applicants.
